Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Location: JWP Veterans Academy 1030 Girard Rd San Francisco Ca 94129

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm

Reporting Type: In-person

Employment Type: Non-exempt Full-time

Salary Range: $26.78 Hourly

Summary:

We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Technician. This is a full-time, non-exempt position under the supervision of the Facility Director and Property Manager. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ongoing maintenance and repairs to residential units, as well as to offices and public areas in the building. This position also includes preventive maintenance projects, turnover of units for occupancy, and responding to work orders involving tasks such as plumbing, painting, and electrical work. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician will be on call for after-hour and weekend emergencies and may be asked to perform repairs at other properties owned and/or managed by Swords to Plowshares.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance Duties for STP Properties

• Plumbing: Unclog sinks, toilets, showers, and tubs; repair or replace toilets and faucets.

• Electrical: Repair or replace broken switches and plugs; replace smoke detectors.

• Carpentry: Repair or replace damaged wood trim; ensure doors and windows are operable (including sash cords); repair or replace door and window hardware.

• Glazing: Replace broken glass in doors and windows.

• Painting: Perform interior and exterior painting.

• Drywall Repair: Repair damaged drywall as needed.

• Unit Turnaround Overflow: Assist with turnover tasks for unit occupancy readiness.

• Work Order Management: Process and complete maintenance work orders efficiently.

• Ability to effectively communicate in English with staff, clients, and external partners and stakeholders.

• Supply Management: Assess materials and supplies needed; submit purchase requests or procure supplies as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist janitorial staff with large-scale projects and cover for short-term absences.

• Handle other tasks as assigned, such as moving furniture, cleaning up water spills, and maintaining grounds.

• Complete daily work reports to document completed tasks.

• Provide maintenance support at other STP properties as needed.

• Attend Property Management and All-Staff meetings and required training sessions.

• Ability to effectively communicate in English with staff, clients, and external partners and stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience & Skills:

  • At least 4 years of experience in maintenance within a multi-unit property management environment
  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years of age
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with staff, clients, and external partners and stakeholders.

*Employees who work on-call, in a temporary position, or less than 20 hours per week regularly are only eligible for our Employee Assistance Program, paid lunch hour, and San Francisco sick time. Vacation and sick time are pro-rated based upon full-time equivalent percentage.
