About the Position

As our Finance Controller, you will take the lead on all accounting and financial reporting aspects, guiding an international team while ensuring financial practices are robust and aligned with our strategic objectives. Your expertise in managing complex accounting operations in a dynamic environment will be vital. Collaborating closely with executives across various brands, you will help design initiatives that promote sustainable growth and profitability. Your role will be pivotal in cultivating a culture of innovation, risk management, and strategic leadership within the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management and Reporting
    • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and audit readiness.
    • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to enhance strategic decision-making.
    • Utilize your technical accounting knowledge to address complex issues such as revenue recognition, cost of goods sold, inventory accounting, and reserves.
    • Manage the audit process by collaborating with external auditors to ensure efficient reviews and implement necessary improvements.
  • Accounting Operations & Risk Management
    • Supervise core accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and the general ledger.
    • Work cross-functionally to develop inventory control policies, minimize shrinkage, and enhance reporting accuracy.
    • Establish wholesale accounting processes for our diverse brands.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial banking partners to effectively manage the company's financial assets.
    • Enhance internal control policies to effectively mitigate risks within financial processes.
    • Lead enhancements in processes to increase efficiency and accuracy across the accounting function.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Mentor and develop a global team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement development plans to cultivate a high-performing team.
    • Allocate resources efficiently to maximize productivity across projects.
  • Systems & Data
    • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data throughout our technology stack including ERP, OMS, and PLM systems.
    • Promote innovative technologies that enhance reporting, streamline workflows, and optimize accounting operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting leadership experience, preferably in the apparel or retail industries.
  • Advanced understanding of GAAP with expertise in ERP systems such as Dynamics 365 or NetSuite and PLM systems like DeSL.
  • A proven history of leading cross-functional strategic projects to enhance efficiency and support organizational growth.
  • At least 3 years of experience in supervisory roles, with a commitment to team development.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data, detect trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
  • A proactive attitude toward implementing new solutions and adapting to changing financial environments.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • High integrity with a focus on ethical financial practices and adaptability to evolving financial regulations.

The starting pay for this role will be determined based on various factors including qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location.
