Data Visualization

Internship (12 months) - 10 hrs/week. 480 hours. Do you enjoy playing with data? Are you interested in the art of displaying data in meaningful and creative ways, and making new discoveries? This is the internship for you if you are interested in the basics of data science. Learn a new skill and practice it while building the archive.

Internship (6 months) - 10 hrs/week. 240 hours. Same as above.

Internship Time Period

TWELVE MONTHS POSITION: Position opens every quarter. Intern needs to commit a minimum of 10 hours each week. Minimum 12 months commitment

SIX MONTHS POSITION: Position opens every quarter. Intern needs to commit a minimum of 10 hours each week. Minimum 6 months commitment.

In-person position at our Berkeley, California office.

Job Description

o gather and chart data points

o plot data in creative ways to make new trend discoveries

o fit basic mathematical curves to the data

o understand the mathematical relationship and interpret the result

o research the literature to contextualize the findings

Job Requirements

o A love of numbers AND people

o Basic mathematical skills and data management/plotting skills

o A background in the sciences is a plus but not required

o Basic research experience is a plus but not required

Internship Expectations

Interns are expected to develop ownership of their projects and encouraged to develop creative solutions. Intern must have a strong passion for and dedication to our mission and goals. Interns will receive relevant training, fieldwork experience as well as guaranteed references for successfully completing their internship term. This internship is unpaid but interns may apply for credit or funding through their college or university. Successful interns, at the end of their tenure, may be considered for any paid positions that are available.

Interns work at our office in Berkeley, California, USA. In-person positions assume the applicant has US citizenship, permanent residency status, or a valid US VISA, and can self-sustain their stay throughout the internship or apprenticeship period, including food, lodging, and transport.
