POSITION SUMMARY: The Bilingual Direct Care Specialist is responsible for providing direct youth supportive service coverage during open positions and temporary staff leave. This role supports young individuals as they navigate the excitement and challenges of adulthood. The Specialist collaborates with social workers, attorneys, group home personnel, teachers, mental health clinicians, and administrators to help participants work towards obtaining their high school diploma or equivalent, as well as achieving short- and long-term education and employment goals. You'll work individually with youth, providing intensive services and linking them with necessary community resources. This position operates on-site at the SF ILSP Center, open Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with some remote work on Fridays. The Direct Care Floater is part of a pool that works up to 29 hours per week based on organizational needs. No hours are guaranteed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support youth: Identify and pursue educational and employment goals, build strong relationships, and provide translation services for Spanish-speaking youth.
  • Conduct individual meetings: Assist participants in establishing and progressing towards their goals in education and employment.
  • Job readiness: Help youth secure employment by attending job fairs, interviews, and applications.
  • Career coaching: Support youth in exploring careers, job retention, and navigating workplace issues.
  • Community coordination: Link youth to essential resources and advocate for services.
  • Workshop facilitation: Create and lead workshops on career and educational topics.
  • Documentation: Ensure all data is entered accurately and on time to support program evaluation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in education or related field preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish required (reading, writing, and verbal).
  • Three years of experience with at-risk youth, particularly foster youth, preferred.
  • Knowledge of education and employment resources in the Bay Area.
  • Strong communication skills.
