Primary Role:
A Back of House (BOH) Floor Leader oversees overall shift operations, ensuring outstanding customer experiences, sales performance, and adherence to brand standards. This role is pivotal in managing BOH staff during shifts to optimize effectiveness and efficiency. The BOH Floor Leader is responsible for training and coaching all Team Members (TMs) on Homeroom policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

People + Culture

  • Serves as a champion of Homeroom's TRIBE values.
  • Acknowledges and rewards exceptional TM performance.
  • Trains and onboards new Team Members on Homeroom's BOH procedures.
  • Provides focused coaching and direction to TMs.
  • Delivers constructive performance feedback to TMs, including drafting corrective action documents.
  • Actively participates in weekly management meetings.
  • Manages the employee schedule on a shift basis, adjusting as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with CA break policies and scheduling requirements.
  • Conducts daily pre-shift meetings with TMs on duty.
  • Facilitates annual reviews and 60-day check-ins for team members.
  • Enforces safety practices to mitigate work injuries.
  • Encourages open communication to disseminate ideas and concerns for improvement.
  • Collaborates effectively with FOH staff to promote teamwork.

Operations

  • Oversees the seamless execution of opening, mid, and closing shifts.
  • Maintains composure under pressure, effectively prioritizing tasks with competing demands.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of Homeroom's menu and products.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the restaurant as required.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in the BOH.
  • Ensures effective product management including quality control, recipe adherence, portioning, and waste tracking.
  • Handles BOH maintenance, including fixtures and equipment.
  • Ensures all TMs adhere to CA Food Safety standards, including FIFO, food storage, and cross-contamination prevention.
  • Implements daily deployment plans to ensure operational efficacy.

Guest Service

  • Delivers exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Maintains quality, accuracy, and service speed at or above company standards.
  • Resolves customer complaints related to BOH operations.

Business Management

  • Operates with a sales-focused mindset, seeking opportunities to boost sales.
  • Effectively manages Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) through proper portioning, waste management, and ordering.
  • Adapts labor costs by adjusting schedules based on business demands.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Able to work 20-40 hours a week.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a kitchen setting.
  • Willingness to work during holidays, weekends, and peak business periods.
  • Demonstrates leadership that fosters teamwork and motivates staff.
  • Capability to stand, bend, reach, and regularly lift 30-40 lbs throughout a shift.
  • Willingness to walk between Homeroom's two restaurant locations (1 block apart) regularly.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred experience in a high-volume restaurant environment ($3M-5M+ annually).
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills preferred.
