Job Overview:

UPS is hiring Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Mechanics. This crucial role involves performing maintenance activities to ensure our package handling facilities operate at maximum efficiency. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring consistent interaction with fellow team members. Candidates must be available for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts in our 24/7 operations. A strong electrical background is essential, and applicants must successfully complete an electrical assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment, including batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers, servo-driven equipment, photoelectric devices, transducers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and encoders.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace pneumatic equipment like diverters, lubricators, hoses, and coils.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace hydraulic equipment including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
  • Weld structural components such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating as needed.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on plant equipment including conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment.

Compensation:

The starting pay rate for this union-represented position is $41.50/hr, governed by collective bargaining agreements. Benefits include weekly pay, comprehensive training, growth opportunities, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plans, and medical, dental, and vision coverage after a waiting or probation period, along with paid vacation, sick leave, family and medical leave as required by law, paid holidays, an education assistance program, and a discounted employee stock purchase program.
