Senior Finance Analyst Retail Remote
The Senior Finance Analyst Retail supports the Manager Finance Retail through ownership of key forecasting processes, segment reporting, KPI development, and data?driven analytics that enable better visibility and improved decision making across the Retail organization. This role partners closely with Retail Commercial Finance, Retail Operations Finance, and the Retail Executive Team to provide actionable insights, automated reporting, and forward?looking financial models. The position blends traditional FP&A responsibilities with advanced dataanalytics, dashboard creation, and process automation to support a cohesive and accurate view of Retail performance.
A role on our Finance and Accounting team involves helping UNFI maintain and grow its financial health as we continue to transform and scale. We need to ensure that our financial analysis and statements revolve around constant communication with our partners within the organization as well as outside to provide the most current statistics for our business health. By being attentive to details, trends, and inefficiencies, and communicating with our teams, youll be key to our success and continued growth as North Americas premier grocery wholesaler.
Job Responsibilities
- Support creation, maintenance, and enhancement of Retail forecast models including scenario modeling, trend analysis, and driver?based forecasting.
- Develop and automate enterprise reporting for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting cycles, including consistent refresh of KPIs and dashboards for the Retail Executive Team.
- Build and maintain KPI dashboards using Power BI or Tableau, including data models, visualizations, and automated refresh logic.
- Own centralized reporting for Retail, consolidating inputs from Commercial Finance and Operations Finance to produce a unified view of financial performance.
- Partner closely with both Commercial Finance and Operations Finance to gather insights, validate assumptions, and ensure alignment in forecast inputs and reporting outputs.
- Prepare financial analysis that connects performance trends, operational drivers, and cross?functional impacts for executive consumption.
- Utilize SQL, Essbase, and SmartView to extract, transform, and synthesize large datasets into actionable analysis.
- Serve as a SME on Retail reporting data sources including Essbase cubes, SmartView templates, SQL tables, and BI datasets; recommend enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Take a leadership role in improving data governance, reporting standardization, and automation within Retail FP&A.
- Support monthly close activities including variance analysis, reporting, insights, and review packages for senior leadership.
- Produce executive?ready reporting decks, summary materials, and insights for forecast reviews, budget cycles, and performance updates.
- Partner with the Retail Senior FP&A Manager to drive process improvements, enhance planning tools, and elevate analytics maturity.
- Work cross?functionally on special projects related to reporting modernization, model upgrades, and dashboard enhancements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education / Certifications
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years FP&A, corporate finance, analytics, or related experience.
- Required experience with SmartView and Essbase, including building queries, retrieving financials, and managing templates.
- Demonstrated experience improving reporting processes and implementing automation enhancements.
- Experience in retail or multi?unit environments is strongly preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Strong understanding of FP&A fundamentals including forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
- Advanced data analytics skill set including SQL proficiency for data extraction, transformation, and automation.
- Power BI or Tableau dashboard development experience including visuals, DAX or calculated fields, and data model construction.
- Strong Excel and modeling skills including driver?based forecasting and sensitivity analysis.
- Ability to translate complex data into executive?ready insights and clear, concise explanations.
- Strong communication skills with proven ability to partner across multiple finance teams and executive leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines and provide accurate deliverables.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to ensure data integrity across reporting systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across Retail Finance and cross?functional partners.
- Good judgment required; direct supervision may not be immediately available at times.
Work Environment
Remote Role
- This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
