Founded by Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, our school provides a cost-free, career-focused education, benefiting from a generous endowment that allows us to impact the lives of many students.

We are seeking dedicated couples to fulfill the role of Full-time Flex Houseparents. This unique and rewarding position allows you to live on-campus in student homes, caring for and guiding approximately 8-13 students. As a Flex Houseparent, you will create a nurturing, structured, family-like environment that supports students in their academic, emotional, and social growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing daily supervision and mentorship to students.
  • Managing household routines and maintaining student schedules.
  • Administering medication and ensuring the wellness of students.
  • Driving students to activities and actively engaging them in developmental and recreational activities.
  • Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Chapel services.
  • Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.

As a new Flex Houseparent, you will initially support various student homes on a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off. During the weekdays, houseparents enjoy unscheduled time while students are attending school. Eventually, you will transition to a Placed Houseparent role, where you will live and work with the same group of students in their dedicated home.

What we offer:

  • A competitive salary of $44,768.00 per person, totaling approximately $168,000 in compensation per couple, which includes free housing, meals during duty, utilities, and more.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; health savings and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; disability options; and retirement savings.
  • Relocation assistance along with paid training to prepare you for this fulfilling role.
  • Generous paid time off provided at designated times throughout the year.

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Experience in working or volunteering with youth.
  • A commitment to the role as a married couple, legally married for at least two years.
  • Both spouses must be at least 27 years old.
  • No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
  • A commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty.
  • Allowed pets: only fish and one dog of approved breeds.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license and the ability to be certified to drive student home vans.
  • Comfort with leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Judeo-Christian Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; our staff serve as vital role models for our students.

This position is a unique, challenging, and highly rewarding career choice that demands a high level of commitment to the success of our students. If you and your partner are ready to make a difference, please apply!
