Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing production personnel, equipment, and materials to meet customer quality standards and deadlines. They will provide communication to all other department managers. They will supervise department managers and interact regularly with them to improve the workers' production capacity. The Production Manager invests in training, new technology and equipment and oversees raw materials quality in regard to production friendliness. They will establish standards, procedures and goals in order to gauge production costs and worker efficiency.

What You'll Do...

  • Maintains schedule to meet customer deadlines through utilization of equipment and personnel. Approves overtime and vacation as necessary
  • Oversees upkeep and repair of all production equipment: receives daily updates from supervisors on equipment status; schedules major repairs with sales and production so customer deadlines will not be missed; verifies with supervisors that all mechanical and electrical safeties are operational at all times; orders outside maintenance and equipment through the purchasing manager as needed; ensures that all safety bars and guards are in operating condition at all times.
  • Reviews schedule and informs salespeople of late jobs
  • Directs activities of production personnel: allocates daily projects as well as short and long-term goals; provides answers to procedural and technical questions; meets with production personnel individually and in groups to discuss problems; reviews all production records daily and forward to appropriate supervisor; reviews completed work and work in progress for quality; reviews employee performance and determines wage increases; resolves problems between and within departments
  • Manages production personnel and department managers: hires, trains, evaluates, and terminates staff
  • Provides technical assistance: keeps informed of new products, materials, and technology by reading trade magazines, attending seminars, and visiting vendor locations; provides production, purchasing, and sales feedback on problem materials, and supplies, and equipment; provide personnel with technical information and in-plant training
  • Prepares and manages annual budget: prepares annual budget for review; reviews monthly costs with supervisors; meets with vendors to get samples of supplies; reviews supply usage, researches ways to reduce costs and improve productivity and quality
  • Performs all others tasks as assigned
What You'll Bring...
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Technical or trade school diploma or related work experience
  • Five years' experience in management
  • Extensive overall printing knowledge including all related material preferred: paper, ink, and chemistry
  • Moderate mechanical skills and aptitude
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Ability to solver personnel problems
  • Ability to motivate personnel
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to lead
  • Good natural or corrected eyesight
  • Knowledge of all related technologies as they pertain to printing preferred
  • Ability to interact effectively between all people and departments
