Job Opportunity: Lead Host

Location: San Francisco, CA

Pay Rate: $26 per hour (non-exempt) + tips

Schedule Requirements: This position requires flexibility and full availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the restaurant's operating hours. The Lead Host plays a key role during peak service periods and special events, ensuring smooth front-of-house operations and exceptional guest experiences.

Role Overview

As the Lead Host at Chotto Matte, you set the tone for the guest experience. You are both a warm, welcoming presence and a sharp coordinator who ensures the front desk runs seamlessly. You'll lead the Host Team with professionalism, manage reservations with precision, and work closely with leadership to deliver service that exceeds expectations every time.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and support the Host Team to deliver world-class hospitality.

• Extend a warm welcome to all guests, ensuring a seamless arrival and departure experience.

• Manage and oversee reservations across multiple platforms (SevenRooms, OpenTable, etc.).

• Collaborate with the management team to optimize floor flow and table turnover.

• Communicate effectively between departments to ensure guest needs are anticipated and met.

• Handle VIP, walk-in, and special requests with professionalism and discretion.

• Maintain a polished and professional demeanor at all times.

• Champion health and safety protocols.

• Support service setup and special events as needed.

• Foster a positive team culture built on respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for long periods, move quickly, and bend as needed.

• Occasional lifting and/or moving of items up to 15 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of host or reception experience in an upscale hospitality environment.

• Previous leadership or training experience is a plus.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Confident with technology and reservation platforms.

• Naturally friendly, organized, and composed under pressure.

• Self-motivated with a passion for hospitality and professional growth.
