Job Title: Metal Sorter
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Hours: Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Optional Saturday: 7:30 AM -11:00 AM
Start Date: ASAP

Join our client, a well-established recycling facility in Lewiston, Maine, as a Metal Sorter and become an essential part of a team committed to sustainability! As a Metal Sorter, you will play a critical role in supporting daily operations by sorting and processing incoming metals. This position is vital for ensuring the quality and accuracy of material handling, contributing to a safe, productive, and efficient warehouse environment. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential for permanent hire for the right candidate.
What You'll Do:
As a Metal Sorter, you will be responsible for:
- Weighing, sorting, and cutting incoming metal materials by type.
- Loading sorted materials into balers and designated containers.
- Distinguishing between aluminum, steel, and other recyclable metals.
- Providing friendly and professional customer service as needed.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area.
- Performing physical labor in an outdoor/open-air warehouse setting.
- Following all safety protocols and wearing proper PPE at all times.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in warehouse, recycling, or industrial work is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a physical role and lift/move materials as needed.
- A basic understanding of metal types (training provided).
- A dependable work ethic and a desire for long-term employment.
- Comfort working in non-climate-controlled environments (hot/cold weather).
- Steel toe boots (required - must be provided by the employee).
