PART-TIME FAMILY ASSISTANT - BERKELEY, CA

20 hrs/week $45-$50/hr No-Screens Household Bilingual Preferred

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4pm-8pm (with some flexibility)

Location: Berkeley, CA

Compensation: $45-$50/hour DOE, guaranteed 20 hours/week

This is a wonderful opportunity to support a kind, down-to-earth family in Berkeley who are raising a preschool-aged child in a screen-free, emotionally grounded household. With Mom frequently traveling for work, they're looking for a proactive, thoughtful Family Assistant who brings both warmth and reliability - someone who naturally creates calm and order amidst the busy rhythms of family life.

This role goes beyond logistics. It's about showing up with presence, engaging wholeheartedly with a curious, loving child, and helping maintain a steady, well-run home environment. The right person will have a strong, resume-backed foundation in childcare and genuinely enjoy spending time with young children - not just supervising, but connecting, guiding, and supporting them with care and patience. They'll take pride in contributing to something meaningful: a household rooted in respect, routine, and care.

Please note: This is a no-screens household - and that expectation extends to you. Being fully present is key. Phone use (including texting or scrolling) during work hours is not permitted, except in case of true emergencies or to support the family's tasks.

What You'll Do:

• School pick-ups and occasional drop-offs
• Light meal prep and simple family-friendly cooking
• Running errands (groceries, dry cleaning, post office, etc.)
• Tidying kitchen and shared areas
• Supporting light household organization
• Helping with family calendar + appointment coordination
• Providing backup support during Mom's travel
• Respectfully reinforcing the family's no-screens parenting approach

• Emotionally mature and grounded - you know how to leave personal distractions at the door and bring calm, capable energy into a family's space
• Loves being around children - you genuinely enjoy their company, follow their lead in play, and help them feel safe and seen
• Reliable and conscientious - you take initiative, communicate clearly, and hold yourself to high standards
• Experienced - you have a strong background in family support roles (e.g., nannying, family assistant, child development) and come with solid references
• Confident behind the wheel - you're comfortable driving and know the Berkeley area or can navigate it with ease
• Discreet and respectful - you understand healthy boundaries and the importance of trust in a private household
• Looking for a long-term, part-time role where you can make a meaningful contribution

• Love cooking and find joy in preparing simple, nourishing meals
• Are flexible when travel plans shift or schedules need adjusting
• Are bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred), or fluent in Tagalog or Dutch (a plus)
