Job description/Responsibilities: Full-Time (40hrs per week)
NOC Shift
APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE:
$26.80 - $32.96
Under general supervision cleans all areas as assigned by performing the duties listed below, to keep the environment aseptically clean, orderly, and safe.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Customer Service Standards
Is courteous and displays a positive attitude while communicating with others
Maintains confidentiality regarding information pertaining to patients, employees
Handles difficult situations in a discreet and professional manner
Promotes good public relations with patients, staff and visitors
Customer satisfaction surveys and patient interviews reflect positive customer service
Essential Duties
Properly disposes of soiled linens using standard precautions, and re-lines the hamper
Removes trash and re-lines containers properly utilizing standard precautions
Properly disposes of the medical waste following the medical waste management plan
Delivers linens to assigned areas, with all strings removed from the linens
Cleans all trash cans in soiled utility rooms and outside entrances according to policy
Properly disposes of confidential papers and picks up on schedule
Keeps trash compactor area clean and organized at all times
Completes hard floor care thoroughly and documents properly
Completes carpet care according to proper procedure and documents accordingly
Cleans baseboards, corners, and edges with no dust build-up
Area assignment sheets are completed daily and all duties are completed
Assists other team members after floor care is completed to ensure the entire area is clean prior to leaving
Cleans equipment at the end of the shift and returns to the designated area
Secures gated areas at all times
AREA-SPECIFIC STANDARDS
Patient Area
In addition to Essential Duties;
Sweeps and mops floors
Cleans, disinfects sinks, mirrors, and water fountains
Replenishes deodorizes, toilet tissue, paper towels, soap, etc. daily as needed
Performs isolation cleaning as assigned
Performs Transfer/Discharge cleaning as assigned
Polishes furniture, doors, chrome, stainless steel, etc.
Moves furniture such as beds, chairs, tables, etc. on wheels
Carries out duties utilizing appropriate safety and security practices
Makes productive use of time, equipment, and supplies
Maintains assigned equipment in a clean, operable condition
Mixes, uses, and disposes of chemicals according to the directions
Reports items in need of repair to Lead Person/Supervisor
Spot cleans walls as needed in assigned areas
Cleans patient refrigerators and ice machines
OR Area
In addition to Essential Duties;
At 1500 hours check each OR suite for cleanliness, correct furniture and placement, LPH solution availability
Check supplies of mopheads, rags, and resupply as needed
Take specimens (If any) to LabCheck OR warmer for NS blankets and restock as needed
Mop all hallways, female and male lounges, scrub sink area, workroom, decent area, and Cysto storage room.
Clean sinks, hopper, and counters in Acute Recovery Room
Clean sinks and toilets in nurse's and doctor's lounges
Terminate at least one surgery suite and all equipment each evening. This means everything must be moved and cleaned under, the OR table taken apart and thoroughly cleaned and high dusting done
Check shelves above for cleanliness and cleanse if necessary, restock masks and brushes as needed, refill scrub solutions as needed
Restock male dressing room with hats and shoe covers as needed
Assist with positioning and moving of patients, when needed
Replenish all supplies
Mop Acute Recovery Room and anesthesia office as needed
Clean face plates of all vents in OR suite with a dust mop, dust all vents and light fixtures
Trash and Linen Area
-In addition to Essential Duties;
Replace all trash receptacles that are more than full unless the liner is torn, soiled with wet refuse, or contaminated with possible infectious waste
-If less than full take the receptacle to the cleaning cart and empty its contents into the large trash collection bag. NOTE: this is not to be done in Isolation Rooms of Critical Care areas (SICU, CCU, ER, etc)
All trash receptacles are to be observed at the time they are emptied and washed with a germicidal solution if soiled
-After the trash is collected and placed in large liners, it is to be placed in the appropriate waste containers
-Under no circumstances is trash to be placed in corridors
Trash will be transported from the soiled hold rooms, in the appropriate carts, to their designated areas for disposal
Offices
In addition to Essential Duties;
-Clean medicine cabinet mirrors, soap dispenser, sink (including pipes under the sink)
-Damp wipe and dry all chrome fixtures
-Clean toilets inside and outside
-Be sure soap and paper dispensers are cleaned and filled
Empty trash receptacles, wash inside and outside, then reline with plastic liners
-Sot clean glass doors and windows
-Clean all food service areas, sinks, ice machines, microwave ovens, refrigerators
-Clean utility rooms including sinks
Other Duties
-Use caution signs at all times when mopping floors
-Follow safety procedures while operating equipment
-Clean all work equipment including carts, buckets, etc
-Return vacuum cleaners in operating condition. The bag should be replaced when full, so you must check the vacuum before returning it
-Ensure that all spray bottles are properly labeled
-Do not obstruct traffic or exits with equipment
-Clean janitor's closet including shelving, hopper, and floor
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager, Environmental Services

Required Qualification: License/Certifications
*None
Education
*A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
*Coursework in hospital housekeeping or institutional environmental management preferred.
Experience
*Four years of environmental service experience in an acute care environment preferred.
Skills
*Ability to communicate and understand oral and written instructions in English.
*Skills with the use of personal protective equipment, housekeeping supplies, and equipment.
*Familiar with OSHA and JACHO standards.
*Familiar with technical process procedures and financial management tools.
*Problem-solving, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
*Effective time management.
*Employees must demonstrate basic computer skills.
Physical Hazards
*The employee will regularly be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials, and waste.
*The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
*The employee will occasionally work in outside weather conditions.
*The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
