Animal TechnicianLocation: San Francisco, CASchedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–3:00 PMStart: ASAPContract Duration: 6 months (26 weeks)Pay Rate: $24/hourOverviewWe are hiring an Animal Technician on behalf of our client in San Francisco. This role supports laboratory animal care operations and research programs by ensuring proper animal husbandry, sanitation, health monitoring, and regulatory compliance.Scope of DutiesProvide daily care for laboratory animals in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulationsPerform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, cage changing, and room sanitationMonitor animal health and report concerns to veterinary and supervisory staffMaintain accurate records including animal health surveillance, feed logs, per-diem records, and temperature/humidity logsClean and disinfect animal housing areas, equipment, cage washers, and autoclavesSupport general maintenance of animal facilities and follow established SOPsPerform additional duties as assigned to support research operationsRequired QualificationsMinimum 1 year of animal handling or laboratory animal sanitation experienceGeneral knowledge of animal feeding, caging, and space requirementsAbility to identify animal health concerns and escalate issues appropriatelyFamiliarity with sanitation and disinfection procedures, including use of cage washers and autoclavesBasic computer skills, including email and electronic record systemsAbility to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a teamPhysical & Safety RequirementsAbility to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and move on hard surfaces for up to 7 hours per dayAbility to lift, push, or pull up to 50 poundsAbility to wear required personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves, gowns, and respirators as assignedCompliance with workplace rules, including no eating or drinking in animal areasEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredAALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician training or equivalent experience preferredOne year of animal care experience, or two years of relevant experience in lieu of formal certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
