Description:

Be part of a small, mission-driven team that serves the public while supporting the care and well-being of animals. This position plays a critical role in connecting animals with the community by helping pets find homes, supporting responsible pet ownership, and ensuring smooth shelter operations. The role combines customer service, administrative duties, and hands-on interaction with animals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where teamwork, flexibility, and a shared commitment to animal welfare are essential.

  • Provide high-quality customer service to the public via email, phone, and in person, serving as a knowledgeable and compassionate point of contact for animal services.
  • Process animal impounds, outcomes, and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist in reuniting lost pets with their owners by reviewing online lost-and-found resources, verifying ownership, and facilitating the safe return of animals to their families.
  • Administer intake vaccinations in accordance with shelter protocols to support animal health and disease prevention.
  • Handle cash and process payments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with animal-related functions as needed, including behavioral assessments, rescue outreach, and adoption profiles.
  • Work with the public to facilitate successful pet adoption matches.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with volunteers, rescue partners, and community members.
  • Learn and utilize shelter management software (Chameleon) to document activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Observe and document cat and dog behavior to support placement and care decisions.
  • Support shelter operations through additional duties as assigned, including special events, foster coordination, and assisting the Animal Care team.
