THE WORK:

Conduct inspection and quality assurance on highway and roadway construction projects in upcoming initiatives.
Evaluate completed work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
Facilitate coordination with contractors and various public utility agencies.
Keep thorough records and reports related to your projects.
Work with the general contractor to negotiate change orders.
Assist with inspections to ensure compliance across all construction phases, including bridges, foundations, and drainage structures.
Support making critical calculations regarding grade, alignment, quantity, falsework, and shoring.
Help prepare contract change orders, estimates, and progress pay estimates, and coordinate the testing of construction materials.
Monitor contractor progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
Collaborate with the project team, including the Construction Staking and Material Testing groups.
This role is onsite, allowing you to work directly with clients to foster strong relationships.

Salary: $150,000 - $190,000 annually, based on various factors such as location, skills, and experience.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
A Professional Engineer license in California.
Experience with at least one construction highway project for or on Caltrans.
At least 8 years of experience in roadway and highway construction inspection for major public works projects.
A minimum of 3 years of experience with stress analysis, structural mechanics, and material strength.
A minimum of 3 years of knowledge regarding the physical properties of various roadway and bridge materials.
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
The ability to work independently.
Experience making decisions in the construction field office and solving on-site challenges.
Experience directing subordinate inspectors.
Expertise in toll road projects, including tolling systems.
