Stanford's Online High School is an accredited, diploma‑offering, highly selective independent high school, offering courses for grades 7-12. The mission of Stanford Online High School (OHS) is to foster a worldwide community of intellectually adventurous students and teachers. Stanford Online High School is also the new home of Stanford Pre‑Collegiate Studies (SPCS), which provides a diverse array of academic enrichment programs that take place mostly in the summer but also throughout the academic year. Held primarily online, SPCS programs serve intellectually curious pre‑college students from around the world.

The Assistant Director of Admissions (ADA) plays a pivotal role in determining which applicants to admit to Stanford OHS and our outreach programs. This role requires a careful understanding of the school's and programs' overall enrollment needs and strategic plans, as well as the admissions standards and associated processes. The ADA will provide first and second reads on applications, interview applicants for admission, serve as a committee member, create informational videos, present at live events, and lead virtual information sessions each fall. The ADA will also serve as the project manager for all financial aid processes for the school and advise on financial aid for SPCS programs and University‑Level Online.

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Read, evaluate, recommend, and advocate to the Admission Committee on which applicants to consider for admission based on current university priorities.
  • Act as project manager on medium to large‑sized projects/programs by establishing and executing project plans, timelines, tasks, and objectives.
  • Conduct informational sessions for internal and external communities on a variety of subjects such as academics, student life, and admissions.
  • Manage assigned applicants by researching, compiling, and analyzing various demographics data; create a proposal for outreach and present findings to management with recommendations.
  • Further develop and strengthen relationships with secondary or university personnel, professional organizations, students, parents, and alumni.
  • Serve as a resource to other departments; represent the unit/department at activities and events, meetings, committees, and conferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time‑management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make distinctions among competitive applicants.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • May work extended or non‑standard hours based on project or business needs; occasional local and overnight travel required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior experience with admissions and/or financial aid in secondary education or higher education.
  • Prior experience with Slate.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently perform desk‑based computer tasks, seated work, and use light/fine grasping.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely stand, walk, use a telephone, or write by hand.

This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range is $95,048 – $110,290 per annum for the Stanford Work Location, and $61,078 – $85,900 per annum for Remote (all other regions). The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
