About You and this Role

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates for our rewarding Apprenticeship opportunities within the U.S. Apprenticeship Program.

As part of this program, you will participate in a 2-3 year journey, gaining hands-on experience at our chemical plants in Hayward, CA, while attending community college to earn a company-funded Associate's degree. You will receive paid tuition, wages, and benefits throughout the program. Graduates will earn an Associate's Degree in various technical fields and have strong job prospects with us upon completion.

Selected candidates will sign an offer letter committing to a 2-year employment period with Dow once a full-time position is offered.

Hourly Wage: $25.38 (Overtime eligible under federal and state law).

Start Date: June 8, 2026, or potentially August 3, 2026.

Responsibilities

Apprenticeship opportunities available in two fields: Process Technician and Millwright/Mechanical Technician.

Process Technician

In this role, you will operate equipment within assigned plant areas, leveraging your chemical manufacturing knowledge for safe and efficient operations.

  • Monitor and control basic control systems and devices.
  • Adjust control systems and manual equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine lifting and operating of valves and hoses correctly.
  • Follow safety procedures and practices diligently.
  • Troubleshoot processes and identify necessary maintenance tasks.
  • Perform maintenance work with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Millwright/Mechanical Technician

Your responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial mechanical equipment.

  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose and replace defective parts efficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and designs.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must provide transcripts/GED scores if enrolled in or graduated from high school/college within the last two years.
  • Completed coursework in Algebra or Technical Math, and preferably Chemistry or Physics.
  • Must complete college entrance exams after receiving an employment offer.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.500 is preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older on or before your start date.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is necessary.
  • Must be available for all applicable shifts and overtime.
  • Legal work eligibility in the U.S. is required; no visa sponsorship available.

  • Strong willingness to learn and actively engage in training.
  • Effective time management to meet production schedules.
  • Proactive in seeking skill improvement and learning opportunities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot process and equipment issues effectively.
  • Mechanical aptitude in handling equipment and performing maintenance.

Physical Demands

You should be willing and able to meet the following physical demands:

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds and operating equipment safely.
  • Climbing ladders/stairs and working at heights safely.
  • Comfortable in tight spaces and wearing personal protective equipment.
