About You and This Role

We invite candidates to apply for exciting apprenticeship positions at our facility in Hayward, CA as part of our U.S. Apprenticeship Program.

Our 2-3 year apprenticeship program provides hands-on experience in our chemical plants while attending community college to earn a company-paid Associate's degree. Apprentices benefit from paid tuition, wages, and certain benefits. Upon successful completion, you will have earned an Associate's Degree in one of several technical disciplines and will be highly considered for a full-time role with Dow.

Selected apprentices will be required to sign an agreement committing to work for Dow for 2 years post-program.

The hourly base pay for this position is $25.38. Eligible employees may earn overtime pay under federal and state laws. The pay rate is set by the Company and is non-negotiable.

Expected start dates for these opportunities are June 8, 2026, or August 3, 2026, at the latest.

Responsibilities

Apprenticeship opportunities are available in the following areas: Process Technician and Millwright/Mechanical Technician.

Process Technician

As a Process Technician, you will operate plant equipment and perform operations-related activities. Your role will require chemical manufacturing knowledge to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Operate basic control systems to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates.
  • Adjust control systems and equipment as needed.
  • Conduct safe lifting and operation of equipment.
  • Follow procedures to maintain a safe operational environment.
  • Troubleshoot process and product issues and identify equipment for maintenance.
  • Maintain a high level of safety and environmental standards.

Millwright/Mechanical Technician

As a Millwright/Mechanical Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair industrial mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, and mixers.

  • Maintain and repair mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Interpret blueprints and design drawings.
  • Contribute to the development and review of procedures.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Recent high school or college graduates (within the last two years) must provide transcripts or GED scores prior to the interview.
  • Completion of Algebra or Technical Math, and preferably Chemistry or Physics in high school.
  • Must complete college entrance exams before hire.
  • Preferred minimum GPA of 2.500 if enrolled or graduated within the last two years.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older by your start date.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with potential overtime.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship is available.

Physical Demands

Candidates must be able to meet the physical demands of the job:

  • Work in confined spaces and wear required personal protective equipment.
