Senior Accountant (Tax Compliance Manager)

About the role:

As part of the Tax team, you will play a vital role as a trusted tax accountant to our beloved customers and our Member Relations team. You will have the ability to manage a portfolio of customers and contribute significantly to the organization. Your impact will be felt from the brand to the bottom line. Beyond just the business, you will be a valuable liaison between tax management and junior staff on the Collective team.

What you'll do:

  • Understand our clients' financial background, financial goals, and help our team identify optimization opportunities.
  • Minimal client facing responsibilities.
  • Review, deliver, sign, and file member's business tax returns.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality results that align with both project requirements and organizational objectives while upholding Federal and State compliance requirements.
  • Support our team of tax professionals assisting with their day to day tasks ensuring their continuous growth.
  • Mentor, train and provide feedback to junior tax staff on the team.
  • Balance immediate project needs with the broader, long-term goals of the organization, ensuring tactical actions support strategic direction.
  • Effectively communicate updates or changes to clients and internally across the organization facilitating understanding and engagement across diverse audiences.
  • Research and analyze tax laws, regulations, and policies to produce comprehensive and accurate technical memos. Present findings and recommendations in a professional manner to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax laws and their impact on the organization's compliance requirements.
  • Assist in developing strategies for optimizing the company's overall tax posture, while maintaining compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Collaborate with legal and other departments to ensure alignment on tax-related matters and to address complex issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on tax-related matters and be a point of contact for colleagues across the organization seeking advice or clarification.
  • Prepare periodic reports on tax compliance status, potential risks, and opportunities for senior management.

What you'll bring:

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent and 5+ years of hands‑on experience with S corporations.
  • Prior experience with signing tax returns.
  • Experience working with self‑employed/small businesses (less than $1M revenue).
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to explain tax technical matters and ability to build trust with self‑employed professionals of all types.
  • Tech‑savvy - needs to be very familiar or capable of learning and teaching tools quickly.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross‑functional workstreams.
  • Experience with using Go Systems (or other tax softwares), QBO, Gusto, Salesforce, G Suite.
