Please join to help support us as the Friends of the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex. This includes the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, more than 30,000 acres of preserved wildlife habitat at the edges of the Bay. We also support the Farallon Islands, Salinas River, and Ellicott Slough National Wildlife Refuges.

We are looking for board members who are ready to devote time and energy toward strategy and fundraising. Ideal applicants are excited about helping lead a working board where they can shape and help implement ideas for supporting our National Wildlife Refuges. We are particularly seeking people with experience or interest in any combination of:

  • advocacy;
  • wildlife/habitat conservation, restoration, or management;
  • environmental education;
  • fundraising or grant writing;
  • accounting/bookkeeping;
  • outreach and communications;
  • nonprofit management;
  • or related fields.

Our Board meets quarterly and is responsible for a staff of about 5 employees. We are ideally looking for people who are eager to do any of the following:

  • commit to helping a minimum of 10 hours per month;
  • take a leadership role by becoming a board officer or chairing a committee;
  • advocate for support of our National Wildlife Refuges;
  • assist with the operations of the Board;
  • or help increase the resources of the organization.

Most Board responsibilities and meetings can be completed remotely. We also encourage getting involved in our programs to experience the impact of our organization!
