Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic / Building Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems within commercial and government facilities. This role is hands-on and ideal for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, building systems experience, and a safety-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and water systems

  • Troubleshoot equipment and system issues to maintain safe and reliable building operations

  • Respond to service requests and emergency calls as needed

  • Conduct routine inspections and document work performed

  • Support contractors and vendors during repairs or system maintenance

  • Maintain a professional, customer-service-oriented approach with tenants and stakeholders


General Experience Required
  • 3+ years of building maintenance, facilities engineering, or mechanical maintenance experience

  • Experience working in commercial, institutional, or government facilities

  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills across multiple building systems

  • Ability to read basic blueprints, manuals, and work orders

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a facilities team


Technical Skills & Requirements
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following:

    • HVAC systems

    • Plumbing systems

    • Electrical systems (lighting, outlets, controls)

    • Boilers, pumps, compressors, or mechanical equipment


  • Experience responding to emergency maintenance situations

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (Maximo or similar) is a plus

  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting



Certifications (Preferred / Required)
  • NFPA 70 / Electrical safety training (preferred)

  • HVAC, boiler, or trade-related certifications (preferred)

  • OSHA safety training a plus


Physical & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working on ladders, in mechanical rooms, and confined spaces

  • Willingness to work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions

  • Overtime or emergency response may be required
