Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field, Adapted Physical Education (APE) certification, and 1+ years Adaptive PE Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position offers an opportunity to provide specialized Adaptive Physical Education (APE) services during the Extended School Year (ESY) for a small K-12 public district located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role is designed to offer summer compensatory services to students requiring adapted physical education support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver APE instruction and support tailored to individual student needs during the ESY session
  • Collaborate with educational staff to develop and implement appropriate physical education programs
  • Monitor and document student progress in alignment with individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Prepare instructional materials and lesson plans suited to the physical abilities of each student

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching license with an endorsement in Adaptive Physical Education
  • Previous experience working with K-12 learners in adapted physical education settings
  • Strong knowledge of physical education techniques and modifications for diverse learning needs
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering student growth through physical activity and adaptive instruction

Location and Schedule:

  • Position is based on-site in Piedmont, CA, within a small K-12 district
  • Contract duration: June 8, 2026, through July 3, 2026
  • Approximately 6 hours per week (4 contact hours and 2 preparation hours)
  • This role is specifically for the ESY session providing compensatory services
