Senior Frontend Engineer - Intercom

Overview

We are a small, dynamic team focused on building cloud-managed intercom systems. Intercom is our second newest major product line and is off to the best start of any product in Verkada's history. Our intercom allows customers to receive calls from anywhere - at their desk or on their phone - with rich video and 2-way audio, and we have a lot more to build. We consider our team a startup within a startup, with a fair amount of ownership and autonomy. You'll be working alongside a dynamic team of firmware, backend, and mobile engineers to develop this product line.

• BS or a graduate degree in Computer Science, Maths, Engineering, or science

Requirements

• 7+ years of industry software engineering experience
• 5+ years of experience developing on React, expert in component lifecycle, state management, and hooks
• Mastery of JavaScript: Scoping, closures, contexts, prototypes, classes, etc
• Strong architectural understanding of custom components, custom UI, design systems, and cross-browser support
• Experience collaborating cross functionally to design complex customer-facing UI with simple and robust backend APIs
• Understanding of HTTP, Dev Tools, and practical debugging techniques
• Strong CSS skills, proficiency with modern layout techniques (e.g. Flexbox, Grid)
• Adept at efficiently developing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Eye for design, product details, and polish

Nice to Have

• Experience with TypeScript, modern state management tools (Redux, Recoil, React Context), CSS-in-JS libraries (e.g., styled-components), modern data fetching strategies (React Query)
• Experience with code-splitting, lazy loading, and performance optimization

Estimated Annual Pay Range $180,000 - $260,000 USD
