Job Summary
The Discovery Proteomics group is seeking a talented and motivated Bioinformatician / Scientific Software Engineer to build scalable and interactive web applications that support high-throughput proteomics research. This position will focus on extending and enhancing an existing Python-based web framework by developing new features, improving backend and frontend integration, and ensuring applications scale to handle large and complex biological datasets. The successful candidate will work closely with bioinformaticians, experimental scientists, and Client's informatics technology teams to advance computational infrastructure that enables scientists to explore, visualize, and interpret complex biological datasets and drive data-informed decision making in discovery research.

Responsibilities
As a bioinformatician / scientific software engineer in the Discovery Proteomics group, you will develop and maintain Python-based web applications using Flask for backend services and Dash/Plotly for frontend visualizations, ensuring that applications are responsive, reliable, and capable of handling millions of quantitative data points. You will design and integrate backend logic and REST APIs with clean object-oriented programming practices, and contribute to shared codebases with strong version control, testing, and documentation. You will work with a variety of database systems and data models, applying best practices in schema design and data organization to support large-scale biological datasets. Familiarity with CI/CD practices is a plus. In addition, you will leverage your understanding of biological data to design impactful visualizations that help experimental scientists interpret results and accelerate discovery research. You will work with the team on building scalable web applications and computational infrastructure for high-throughput proteomics data, contribute to shared codebases with strong software engineering practices, and develop customized Flask/Dash applications across backend and frontend.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics or other omics datasets, and familiarity with quantitative biological data analysis. Experience with different types of databases, including relational, NoSQL, or array-based systems, with an emphasis on data modeling and schema design. Familiarity with bioinformatics workflows, statistical algorithms, and tools such as Nextflow or similar workflow management languages is desirable.

Basic Qualification:
Masters degree OR Bachelors degree and 2 years of experience OR Associates degree and 6 years of experience OR High school diploma / GED and 8 years of experience
