Position Description
Main Purpose:
We are currently acceptingapplications for Union Construction Laborers. This position is based out of our San Leandro branch, with daily dispatch from our office. This is a union position; must currently be a member or willing to become a member of the local Laborers union.
The successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Must have a valid driver's license with an insurable driving record to be able to operate company vehicles. Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and travel out of town with overnight stays as needed on occasion.

Specific Role Responsibilities:
The Union Construction Laborer will perform many tasks that require physical labor on construction sites, indoors and outdoors. This position will take direction from Supervisors and more experienced workers. This position will learn their job through on-the-job training.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Accurately read and interpret job tickets, safety plans, and complete daily job safetypre-task plans.
- Follow construction plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to remove debris and eliminate possible hazards.
- Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials to the appropriate location according to project plans and specifications, as directed.
- Build or take apart bracing, scaffolding, and temporary structures.
- Dig trenches, backfill holes.
- Assist co-workers with tasks such as cutting, breaking and removing concrete and/or asphalt, using tools required.
- Perform demolition work, including removing drywall, metal/wood stud walls, drop ceilings, pipes, and conduit.
- Work cooperatively with and assist other trades workers on the job site: operating engineers, masons, carpenters, etc.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with dispatch and supervisors regarding job progress and needs.
- Maintain a clean job site, requiring picking up all tools, equipment while securing job site each day to ensure safety and any theft that may occur.
- Identifies and reports safety hazards. Takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards
- Adhere strictly to all company safety and OSHA standards.
Travel:
Position Requirements Required Skills and Abilities:-
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-3+ years of relevant experience in construction, demolition, or related field desired
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used on construction projects
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new technology
- Demonstrates safe working practices, complies with all safety requirements, acts appropriately in emergencies
- Reliable, punctual and consistent attendance
- Strong work ethic with a desire to learn on the job
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team or independently
- Professional communication skills for interacting with customers and coworkers
- Strong verbal communication and understanding of job site documentation

Work Environment The work is completed outside at the construction site, and can include indoor, occupied facilities. The position is often exposed to sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. The job requires wearing protective equipment when on the construction site (hardhats, respirators, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, etc.). Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and able to talk and hear other employee talking. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
