This role is designed for those who have previously served as a Sales & Use Tax Auditor with theCalifornia Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) or the California State Board of Equalization (BOE).

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and prepare audit workpapers for clients undergoing examination.
• Utilize your in-depth understanding of California tax regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Offer strategic guidance based on your state agency experience to enhance audit preparation.
• Collaborate with leadership on specialized audit cases, providing high-level advisory support.
• Deliver independent advisory services to clients navigating complex tax challenges.

Qualifications:

• Former Sales & Use Tax Auditor with CDTFA or BOE.
• Current independent consultant, sole proprietor, or small firm owner.
• Extensive knowledge of California sales and use tax laws, regulations, and audit procedures.
• Proven ability to identify potential risk areas and ensure clients are audit-ready.
• Self-motivated professional with strong attention to detail and exceptional advisory skills.

Compensation:

Earn a competitive rate of $200-$300 per hour, translating to approximately $416,000 - $624,000 annually, depending on your expertise and level of engagement.
