Regional Environmental Manager

Description:

Reporting to the Environmental Director, the Regional Environmental Manager will serve as the subject matter expert on Environmental issues for the assigned SGNA business and manufacturing sites located within their geographic region. The role is a key player in their assigned areas, ensuring overall Environmental compliance, providing training, and building relationships with internal and external partners to support the sites accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point of contact for approximately 30 manufacturing sites on all Environmental issues for which they need assistance

  • Provide consistent and efficient roll-out and training to the site personnel on Region and Global Environmental programs

  • Provide guidance and training on technical and regulatory aspects of Environmental support, as needed

  • Interface with government environmental agencies to conduct negotiations about penalties and abatements

  • Perform audits of sites for regulatory compliance and conformance with Saint-Gobain guidelines

  • Provide direct technical support to sites to meet Environmental objectives as needed, including permitting, process or product review, regulatory interpretation

  • Support CSG projects as needed including regulatory and ISA assessments

  • Per the direction of the Environmental Director, provide technical leadership nationwide on a specific area of expertise and/or lead SG program roll-out across Saint-Gobain in North America

  • Coordinate with Health & Safety, Sustainability and Product Stewardship teams, as needed, to support initiatives affecting plants within the manager's business and geographic alignment

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct Environmental experience in a manufacturing setting or environmental consulting for manufacturing facilities

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Environmental discipline, science, engineering or related field is required

  • Master degree in a related field is preferred, but not required

  • Professional certification is also desired, but not required

  • Ability to travel at least 30% to manufacturing sites

The successful candidate must have strong organization skills, be self-motivated, be able to work independently, have very strong interpersonal skills, be able to work calmly while under pressure, have a high degree of initiative, have high ethical standards, have very solid project management skills, and have excellent communications ability.-

As the voice of authority for the Region, the candidate should have prior experience/expertise in the following areas:

  • Strong understanding of Federal, state and local Environmental regulations and sources of information

  • Preparing Environmental reports and permit applications

  • Interacting and negotiating with State and Federal regulators

  • Designing and implementing industrial hygiene monitoring programs

  • Implementing site safety programs including comprehensive risk evaluations, employee training and behavioral improvements

  • Must understand laboratory procedures and sampling techniques

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $111,000 to $177,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $127,650 to $203,550. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
