News Production Assistant

KCBS All News Radio, the Bay Area's #1 news station, is looking for motivated individuals for part time opportunities as newsroom Production Assistants. The job of a Production Assistant is to assist the KCBS multimedia news operation in all aspects of delivering news and information to Northern California. We're looking for candidates who are digitally savvy, can multi-task in a fast paced work environment, and can demonstrate a passion for news and telling compelling news stories.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

• Prepare audio for broadcast
• Set up and monitor live shots and interviews
• Answer telephones and handle listener questions
• Monitor news sources and contribute story ideas
• Provide general assistance to the news staff, particularly during breaking news coverage

Qualifications

Required:

• Radio production and/or journalism background strongly preferred
• Must be able to manage and meet strict deadlines
• Experience with audio editing systems required
• Working knowledge of general office computer and newsroom software a plus
• Must be willing and able to work various shifts and be amenable to planned and unplanned changes in work schedule
• A valid driver's license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of the applicant's own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for prolonged periods, with reasonable accommodations provided as necessary.
• Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds, such as office equipment, documents, and presentation materials.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond effectively to stakeholders, manage presentations, and participate in meetings.
