Customer Service Representative (25 hours)

Mechanics Bank is currently seeking a part-time Customer Service Representative to join our team at the El Cerrito Branch.

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for assisting customers with banking transactions, offering referrals for additional products and services, and delivering excellent customer service. They are accountable for operational quality and accuracy, including cash balancing processes, and must follow all policies, procedures, and banking regulations. The role involves working with the leadership team to achieve goals related to deposit growth, business and consumer relationships, and operational soundness.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Performing routine teller transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, and transfers, ensuring compliance with security guidelines.
  2. Maintaining and balancing cash supplies, adhering to cash handling policies, and balancing cash at each shift's end.
  3. Providing exemplary customer service, promoting bank products and services, and identifying customer needs for referrals and promotions.
  4. Reviewing transactions for red flags and fraud, and referring complex issues to management.
  5. Assisting with account reconciliations, statement copies, check orders, account closures, and safe deposit box access.
  6. Processing reports and forms to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of cash handling experience in a customer-facing or banking environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services.
  • Ability to understand and refer customer loan requests and additional banking products.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 hourly. Final compensation depends on experience, education, and skills, aligned with market data.
