Job Summary
The Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) will serve as a certified CPST and injury prevention advocate to promote child passenger and pedestrian safety and broader pediatric injury prevention. This role is an integral part of the Benioff Children's Hospital (BCH) San Francisco Emergency Department's Child Passenger Safety Program. This is a one-year grant program funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
The CPST will lead education efforts on car seat safety, fall prevention, bike helmet fitting, and general injury prevention practices. The CPST will increase BCH's presence in the community by organizing and delivering injury prevention events-including child passenger safety check-ups, bike rodeos, helmet fittings, and health fairs-at times and locations accessible to underserved families. The role will collaborate with BCH Oakland's Childhood Injury Prevention Program, coalitions, schools, and community-based organizations to implement an interdisciplinary, public health approach to injury prevention.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $80,200 - $120,300 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) provides emergency medical care to over 177,000 patients annually at the UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals at Mission Bay and Oakland and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. DEM administrative and research staff support the work of 97 full-time faculty and 50+ part-time attending physicians, a residency program, fellowship programs, and over 300 housestaff and students each year.
