Part-Time Lab Assistant (Learning Innovation Network Lab)

The Lab Assistant will support the LIN Lab Learning Innovation Network Lab in its research and innovation activities in plastic and craniofacial surgery. Under supervision, the Lab Assistant will perform operational-level laboratory work to support clinical and translational research. Responsibilities include preparation and organization of lab materials, safe handling of laboratory chemicals and solutions, and maintenance of specialized equipment such as 3D printers. In addition to hands-on laboratory tasks, the Lab Assistant will also participate in research support activities including computer-based research, data collection, and project coordination to advance the lab's projects in surgical innovations, outcomes, and medical technologies. This position is located in Oakland, CA.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $21.47 - $25.29 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation and two years of laboratory experience, or two years of college, including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Ability to perform delicate manual or manipulative tasks with care and precision.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to standardized protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a biological, engineering, or related science.
  • Experience operating and maintaining laboratory or fabrication equipment (e.g., 3D printers, curing/washing systems, microscopes).
  • Familiarity with chemical handling and safe laboratory practices.
  • Experience with project coordination, data entry, spreadsheets, or basic statistical/computer-based research.
