Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Senior Geologist in the Walnut Creek, CA office. As a Senior Geologist your role on our professional consulting services team is to work independently on large projects of high complexity and as a leader of a team or project through all phases of the project lifecycle. You are responsible for participating in and leading multi-disciplinary groups to successfully and efficiently execute environmental projects and consulting services resulting in client satisfaction and on-time delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support site investigation and characterization through collection of environmental and hydrogeologic data using standard and innovative tools and technologies.
  • Conduct multi-media sampling, including soil, groundwater, vapor, and other regulated materials.
  • Conduct oversight and coordination efforts in response to spills, alarms, or other client requests.
  • Conduct oversight of subcontractors, including utility locators, drillers (direct push, sonic, and hollow stem auger), remediation contractors, and surveyors.
  • Lead the development of work scope, schedule, and budget definition for proposals and projects.
  • Lead the planning and execution of work, including subcontractor procurement.
  • Review subcontractor submittals including work plans, health and safety plans, and quality control plans.
  • Oversee the preparation of site investigation and characterization reports and technical documents.
  • Manage projects or assist Project Manager with cost and schedule control.
  • Manage projects and sites to maintain regulatory compliance with relevant orders and requirements.
  • Prepare presentations and communicate with client to provide project status updates.
  • Provide supervision, training, technical direction and mentoring to more junior staff.
  • Conduct peer reviews of routine and moderately complex work by colleagues or more junior practitioners.
  • Exemplify Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Demonstrates competency in a combination of areas including field supervision, technical knowledge, and task management. Promotes policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training. Advanced skills in technical writing. Sound skills in communications and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, and academia, as well as non-technical communication to the public. Proven ability to provide written and verbal direction on project delivery. Leader able to demonstrate value of continuous improvement of technical performance. Champions new ideas and initiatives, and creates an environment that supports creativity and innovation. Maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships. Drives collaborative efforts within the region and beyond to deliver consistent, high quality and appropriately scoped technical work. At least five years of experience successfully executing technical aspects of medium to complex projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred knowledge of hydrogeologic software (e.g., Surfer, Rockworks, Leapfrog, ModFlow, etc.).

Education and Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related field. Licensed Professional Geologist or GIT preferred. 15+ years environmental geology experience.

Pay Range

Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) - Min Salary $ 104,300.00 - Max Salary $ 156,500.00
