Our client's Vehicle team is at the heart of their mission to provide frequent and affordable access to space. This group is responsible for the complete lifecycle of rocket core components, including the First Stage, Upper Stage, Payload, and Fairing. From design through build and testing, the Vehicle team ensures the reliability and performance of every part of the launch system.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Development Technician to take on a hands-on role in the fabrication and assembly of next-generation launch vehicles. This individual will work on building flight parts, manufacturing tooling and test fixtures, and actively supporting critical test campaigns. You'll also contribute to process improvements by executing and providing feedback on development work instructions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble flight parts, tooling, and test fixtures
  • Support and execute system tests (proof, leak, flow, and load testing)
  • Read, interpret, and provide feedback on technical drawings and work instructions
  • Perform inspections using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.)
  • Operate fabrication equipment: sheet metal brake, press brake, mills, lathes, welding equipment, waterjet, tube benders, and related tools
  • Assemble complex mechanical and fluidic systems, including fittings, harness routing, and safety wiring
  • Maintain and troubleshoot test hardware, pumps, vacuum systems, and instrumentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Follow strict safety protocols around high voltage, hazardous materials, and pressure systems
  • Document work, log data, and complete checklists to support testing and compliance
Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, or manual machining
  • Proven troubleshooting skills in mechanical and fluidic systems
  • Ability to interpret and follow engineering drawings and detailed work instructions
  • Experience with precision inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, pi tapes, plug gauges, etc.)
  • Skilled with fabrication tools/processes: welding (TIG/MIG/laser), riveting, composites, machining, tube bending, etc.
  • Experience assembling complex systems and harness installations
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours (evenings/weekends) to support mission-critical testing
  • Pride in producing high-quality, detail-oriented work
Preferred Skills / Multipliers
  • Background in aerospace or space-related industries
  • Experience with cryogenics and high-pressure gas systems
  • Familiarity with aerospace sheet metal and propellant pressure vessel builds/testing
  • Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and adapt quickly to evolving environments
Other Requirements
  • Must meet ITAR/EAR compliance as a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or be eligible for licensing
  • Subject to applicable background checks and clearance requirements
  • Applicants in San Francisco will be considered consistent with the Fair Chance Ordinance
Compensation
  • $50.00 - $60.00 (DOE)
