The Park District is currently recruiting for System Administrator located at EBRPD Administrative Office, 2950 Peralta Oaks Ct., Oakland. The hiring pools established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and additional vacancies that may occur during the one-year life of the hiring pools.
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Reporting to the Information Services Systems Manager, this classification is responsible for a variety of complex assignments, projects, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the District's information systems and infrastructure including but not limited to Active Directory/Microsoft, LANs, WANs, AZURE cloud services, file application servers, mobile device management, and VOIP. This classification is distinguished from the higher-level class of Information Services Systems Manager in that the latter is responsible for supervising staff, managing complex projects, and leading system and infrastructure implementation and integration efforts, whereas the former is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of those systems.

Performs installation, configuration and reconfiguration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of servers, personal computers and network systems, email and backup systems, and related equipment;
Maintains and supports Active Directory services by adding, removing, and/or editing users;
Creates access rights to users and user groups;
Creates groups and mailing lists;
Performs a variety of technical tasks in support of the District's physical and virtual sever infrastructures, including installing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring hardware and software upgrades to ensure effective server performance; maintains virtualization platforms in VMware environment;
Diagnoses and solves technical and operational problems, working with vendors and consultants as needed; installs and configures server and host server systems software and hardware in accordance with project and user department needs and requirements;
Creates email boxes for users and departments;
Troubleshoots email servers, connection, access, security, firewall, and storage issues;
Monitors email servers and performs scheduled maintenance;
Sets up, supports and troubleshoots problems with synching email to smart devices;
Configures and monitors enterprise backup solutions to provide data backup services for servers and end users; implements backup schedules;
Ensures critical data is sent off-site for disaster recovery purposes; configures and implements real-time monitoring to identify and resolve service outages and critical resource shortages in a timely and efficient manner;
Verifies that backups are successful, and data can be recovered; provides escalated support and backup to help desk staff;
Manages and performs capacity planning to ensure systems and applications perform above specified service levels;
Oversees disk storage utilization and system performance;
Designs and documents procedures for the operation and maintenance of various systems, software and firmware including scheduled updates;
Monitors system performance to identify deficiencies in design, security, installation, and/or integration with other technologies;
Performs user data migration and recovery due to hardware/software upgrade or disaster;
Configures and maintains patch management of systems;
Implements system enhancements to improve the performance and reliability of the system; Researches, recommends, tests, and implements upgrades and fixes as needed;
Develops and recommends comprehensive standards, policies, procedures, and technical Documentation pertaining to system maintenance and infrastructure;
Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in technology related to District operations;
Researches, recommends, and evaluates vendor solutions and technologies;
Implements improvements;
Works with staff to maintain, revise, or improve operations and systems;
Serves as technical resource for management staff on assigned projects, gathers user and systems requirements, works with vendors, contractors, project managers, and other project staff, installing, configuring, testing, and providing general technical support, and developing technical and user documentation;
Provides recommendations to meet current and future business goals;

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in management information systems, computer science, or a related field; AND Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience supporting and implementing information technology infrastructure and/or server administration.
