Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician will assist with the daily functions of the Facilities and Safety department. At the direction of supervisors, the position supports the Facilities team's responsibilities for safety and security of the collection and staff, functionality of the physical plant, garden maintenance, custodial, garage operations and event support. This position supports events with project and day-to-day responsibilities leading up to and including event setup, production, and breakdown. In addition, this position monitors and maintains event management calendars and supporting Facilities ticketing platforms for repair and maintenance requests.

  • Support the Museum's mission, values, vision, and core commitment to the visitor experience, community engagement, and institutional relevancy for the future

  • All positions will have core functional responsibilities, cross functional team activation and learning and development as a core function of each role.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Facilities and Safety team.
  • Respond to, delegate and follow up on work orders.
  • Participate in coordination of Facilities' vendors and contract work.
  • Support waste management, recycling, composting, and hazardous waste programs.
  • Support employee workplace moves, set up and ergonomics.
  • Maintain inventory, track orders, and stock supplies.
  • Maintain storage areas.
  • Exercise care and consideration for sensitive museum collections.
  • Assist Facilities with training-related programs and safety program needs.
  • Participate in event oversight, preparation, set up and break down.
  • Participate in any special projects needed.
  • Assist with garden-related tasks, as assigned.
  • Maintain good communication, composure and orientation towards customer service in busy and/or stressful situations.
  • Assist in emergency response protocols.
  • Work is in-person at any of 3 local sites.
  • Assist with fleet maintenance.
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings.
  • Comfort with performance accountability and feedback processes.

Qualifications

Ability to display and encourage visitor and internal customer service, take and share responsibility and treat others with respect

  • 1-2 years of related experience
  • English language proficiency in both spoken and written form
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in event production, customer service, and vendor relationships
  • Google Suite (Email, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Etc)
  • Valid/legal Driver's License & ability to drive a large vehicle

  • 2-3 years of experience in a related field.
  • English language proficiency in both spoken and written form.
  • First aid/CPR training preferred.
  • Experience with working with inventory and documentation.
  • Knowledge of Google suite, work order software and Microsoft Word.

Compensation $31.28 - $31.28 per hour
