About the role

The Resident Assistant supports daily building operations, resident services, leasing activities, resident events, vendor access, and light groundskeeping. This role provides onsite coverage, resident communication, and general support for the onsite team, including weekend and evening coverage.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Support

  • Greet residents and assist with basic questions or concerns.
  • Help with move ins and move outs, including access, elevator holds, and unit walkthroughs.
  • Deliver notices, post signage, and support communication efforts.
  • Support package room organization if the building has one.
Leasing Support
  • Greet prospects and provide light tour support when the leasing team is unavailable.
  • Explain basic building features, amenities, and community expectations.
  • Track walk ins, provide brochures or QR info sheets, and direct prospects to the leasing team for next steps.
  • Assist with model upkeep and keep tour paths presentable.
Resident Events
  • Help plan, set up, and break down resident events.
  • Distribute event flyers and communicate event details to residents.
  • Support staff and vendors during events.
  • Capture attendance lists and share feedback with the manager.
Building Operations
  • Walk common areas and report issues to the manager.
  • Remove trash in hallways and wipe down high touch areas.
  • Keep lobby and amenity spaces tidy.
  • Perform building checks during assigned shifts, including weekends.
  • Monitor access doors, gates, and cameras when applicable.
Vendor and Maintenance Coordination
  • Provide vendors access to units and common areas as scheduled.
  • Confirm vendor arrival times and report delays or issues.
  • Submit maintenance tickets for items observed during building walks.
  • Support the maintenance team with simple tasks like replacing light bulbs and confirming completion of minor work.
Light Groundskeeping
  • Pick up trash around the exterior of the property.
  • Keep entryways, walkways, and courtyards tidy.
  • Report landscaping issues to the maintenance team.
  • Support small outdoor tasks when needed, such as sweeping or removing debris and cleaning the common areas.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Log daily activity and building checks.
  • Track incident reports and escalate issues to the manager.
  • Follow Fair Housing, company policies, and procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong customer service skills and clear communication.
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently.
  • Able to interact well with residents, prospects, and vendors.
  • Basic computer skills for ticketing and communication.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and maintain detailed logs.
  • Light physical activity, including walking the property and lifting small items.


Compensation and Benefits

Housing credit provided in lieu of hourly pay. The credit value aligns with assigned responsibilities and estimated weekly hours (typically 15-20 per week or more, variable by property and the rental value of the unit).
