About the role

We're looking for a Staff UX Designer to shape the future of one of the world's largest industries. If you're thoughtful, results-driven, and passionate about high-quality design, you'll thrive here.

This role will focus on designing AI-powered and data-driven experiences that enhance scientific decision-making, while ensuring usability and trust for non-data scientists. You will craft workflows for model explainability that help scientists unlock the full potential of their structured data. In this specialist role, you'll still own the full design lifecycle-from research to execution-collaborating with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do

• UX for AI Model Explainability: Design user experiences that help scientists and researchers interpret complex AI models.
• Data Visualization & Workflow Optimization: Move beyond dashboards to craft intuitive workflows that turn AI/ML outputs into actionable insights.
• Systems Thinking & Simplification: Create scalable design patterns for information-rich UI with large datasets and predictive analytics. Apply strong UX foundations to design scalable, intuitive workflows
• Collaboration with Data Science & Engineering: Work closely with Data Science teams to align UX solutions with technical capabilities.
• End-to-End Ownership: Lead design projects from research, to concept to execution, ensuring a high standard of usability and impact to end users.
• Leadership & Influence: Effectively communicate design decisions and rationale across teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

• 6+ years in SaaS product design with a track record of shipping products in an agile environment
• Experience designing interfaces for AI/ML-driven products, with a focus on model explainability beyond static dashboards and LLM chat workflows.
• Strong ability to synthesize data visualizations into clear user workflows
• Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals to collaborate effectively with Data Scientists and PMs.
• Deep working knowledge of UX fundamentals from academic training (Bachelors or Masters in UI/UX) or industry experience.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in fast paced startups or startup-like environments.
• Background in chemical/material sciences or scientific research.
