Role Overview

Zurich Insurance is hiring an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter to work in the San Francisco office (Hybrid). The role focuses on Management Liability underwriting for Financial Lines Products such as Directors & Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Crime Insurance for private and nonprofit entities. Key Accountabilities

• Administer & monitor underwriting rules, rating manual rules, insurance laws & regulations.
• Develop & maintain collaboration with Line of Business representatives and other business needs.
• Build & maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) for business retention & acquisition.
• Support sales culture by serving as a help point for agents, brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal & new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts against organization appetite, balancing business opportunities.
• Perform broker/customer and on‑site calls with a planned purpose.
• Mentor team members.

Basic Qualifications – Underwriting Specialist

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 1+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 4+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Knowledge of lines of business, legal & regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Basic Qualifications – Executive Underwriter

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 3+ years in underwriting or market‑facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice (Associate Degree) and 8+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong relationship‑building skills.

Salary & Benefits

Combined salary range: $96,600.00 – $209,300.00. Underwriting Specialist range: $96,600.00 – $158,300.00 (10% short‑term incentive). Executive Underwriter range: $127,800.00 – $209,300.00 (15% short‑term incentive). Competitive benefits package and eligibility for bonuses and merit increases.
