About the Team

DoorDash is a data driven organization and relies on timely, accurate and reliable data to drive many business and product decisions. The Core Data Platform org owns all the infrastructure necessary to run an operationally efficient analytical data stack. The Data Mobility Frameworks team within the core data platform aims to provide a scalable and reliable abstraction layer for data engineers and machine learning engineers to accomplish their analytics workflows.

Declarative data transformations, data quality assertions, metric cube computation and spark connectors to ML feature stores are some of the capabilities that the team enables.

About the Role

As a Staff Engineer in the Data Mobility Frameworks team, you will provide technical leadership to enable the vision of a cost effective, AI infused, self-serve analytics platform leveraging open source products strategically. Your focus extends to fostering an engineering culture of excellence, acting as a force multiplier to deliver reliable solutions at scale.

You must be located in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, or Seattle for this hybrid position. You will report into the Engineering Manager on our Data Mobility Frameworks team.

We're excited about you because…

  • B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 2+ years of experience at the staff level, providing technical leadership to the team.
  • Prior experience in Systems Engineering - you've built meaningful big data processing systems at scale, and have experience with big data compute engines such as Apache Spark and Apache Flink.
  • Familiarity with Datalakes and table formats such as Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg.
  • Familiarity with a cloud based environment such as AWS.
  • Professional experience with at least one of the programming languages such as Java, Scala, Python or Go. Good knowledge of SQL.
  • You are located or willing to relocate to the Bay Area or Seattle.

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee's work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.
