Our founding team has a proven track record of building successful, scalable companies, and we are looking for a uniquely talented individual to join our growing team.

Position Overview: We are seeking a Product Director – Accounting & Finance who has a combination of deep financial and accounting expertise, particularly within manufacturing or construction industries, and hands‑on experience implementing ERP systems. In this role, you will collaborate with Mindworks' product management team and developers to design and develop an innovative financial software solution that addresses the complexities of progress‑based billing, cost accounting, and other financial operations critical to these industries. This is a pivotal role that requires you to leverage your finance background to shape the future of our product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product Management: Work closely with the product management team to define business requirements and ensure the accounting and finance platform aligns with real‑world industry needs.
  • ERP Implementation Insight: Provide strategic input based on your hands‑on experience with ERP systems, ensuring the platform is designed to integrate seamlessly with other core ERP functions like inventory management, procurement, and WIP tracking.
  • Financial Expertise: Leverage your knowledge of progress billing, cost accounting, and financial workflows to influence product features and capabilities and ensure they meet the unique needs of manufacturing and construction companies.
  • Business Operations Insight: Understand broader business operations beyond finance to ensure the product effectively supports the entire organization, from project management to supply chain operations.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership: Collaborate with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable development tasks and ensure product delivery meets expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with evolving financial and accounting standards and industry trends to ensure that the platform continues to meet the needs of mid‑market companies in the manufacturing and construction sectors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong technical fluency (system workflows, data models, integrations, APIs).
  • 5+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role with a deep understanding of progress billing, job costing, and cost accounting.
  • Proven experience working with and implementing ERP systems; familiarity with popular ERP platforms used in construction and manufacturing is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of accounting standards and regulatory requirements, particularly as they relate to construction and manufacturing financial processes.
  • Prior experience collaborating with product management and development teams on the creation of financial software solutions is a plus.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into product requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally across departments.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced startup or entrepreneurial environment is a plus.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, distribution, or field services.
  • WIP accounting, project costing, inventory costing, or job costing experience.
  • Prior work on modern, cloud‑based ERP or accounting platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI‑driven automation or intelligent workflows.

Why Join Mindworks:

  • Be part of a team of a fast‑paced startup environment, building an innovative and impactful product.
  • Competitive salary and equity options.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
  • Based in Financial District / SoMa in San Francisco (4 days per week on‑site, in office).
