Job Overview

Our client, a top 100 AM Law firm, is seeking a Mid to Senior Employment & Labor Associate with 5–8 years of litigation experience to join their California team. This opportunity involves handling complex and high‑profile employment matters across industries while collaborating with a globally recognized, inclusive team. You will defend employers in wage and hour class actions, Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) claims, and California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) cases, and advise clients on proactive compliance strategies that mitigate risk and drive business resilience. This position is open to the San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Irvine offices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Defend employers in wage and hour class actions and representative PAGA claims in both state and federal courts.
  • Handle FEHA claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination.
  • Conduct exposure analyses and audits related to wage and hour compliance.
  • Represent clients before administrative agencies including the EEOC, DFEH, and DLSE.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment.
  • Collaborate with clients across industries such as retail, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, and staffing.
  • Provide strategic counseling on employment policies, arbitration agreements, and litigation avoidance.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Licensed to practice in California.
  • 5–8 years of labor and employment litigation experience.
  • Demonstrated success in defending wage and hour class actions and PAGA claims.
  • Experience handling FEHA litigation and administrative proceedings.
  • Proven record of successful outcomes in high‑stakes employment litigation.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience defeating class certification and representative claims, and taking/defending depositions.
  • Commitment to client service, responsiveness, and excellence.
