Position Title: Lecturer

Salary range: $68,247–$192,040 (UC academic salary scales, see

Percent time: part‑time to full‑time

Anticipated start: January, various summer times, August

Review timeline: Summer session – April; Fall session – May; Spring session – November (positions filled as needs arise)

Position duration: semester‑by‑semester appointments; reappointments at departmental needs

Position Description

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate courses in all areas within chemical and biomolecular engineering, with special consideration for candidates experienced in biochemical engineering laboratory.

General Duties

Classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation; managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants); holding office hours; assigning grades; advising students; preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus); using Cal's electronic resources for course management.

Qualifications

  • Basic qualifications (required at time of application): A bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrollment in a bachelor's degree program.
  • Additional qualifications (required at time of start): A bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) and 2 years of experience in a laboratory course setting and/or research/professional experience.
  • Preferred qualifications: A PhD in chemical engineering or a related field, and prior teaching experience.
