Overview

Client Manager role at EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants. Location requires periodic travel to California locations (Concord, Fresno, Los Angeles, Newport Beach, Ontario, Pasadena, Rancho Cordova, San Francisco, San Leandro or San Mateo).

Responsibilities

  • Processes (during non-renewal periods) applications, policies, endorsements, binders, certificates, audit requests and other items related to the servicing of clients.
  • Assists clients with policy coverage, exclusions and related questions and assists Producers in servicing clients.
  • Services client accounts with oversight of Producers or Account Executives, including research/analysis and handling of client questions on coverage and other policy/contractual issues; makes routine policy adjustments.
  • Conducts renewal process with oversight of Producers or Account Executives, including exposure analysis for the client (e.g., census/experience data, contractual requirements), strategizes with the Producer/Account Executive and client regarding whether to market and, if applicable, conducts market comparisons by analyzing insurance rate and renewal information; obtains and evaluates quotes, negotiates premium and commission rates on behalf of clients for best alternatives (with full authority from EPIC to act on its behalf), prepares proposals, and oversees accuracy of insurance binder.
  • Provides support to Producers and, if applicable, Account Executives, including preparing presentations and proposals, and participating in meetings with prospective clients as part of the team.
  • Maintains client files in appropriate systems; prepares billing and provides standard office/administrative support.

Service

  • Establishes and maintains high levels of trust with clients through periodic introductions, timely responses, and resolution of client questions and issues.
  • Processes applications, policies, endorsements, mail, binders, schedules, certificates, audits, and other items related to servicing clients' policies in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Educates clients about policy coverage, changes, exclusions, and insurance coverage needs; assists clients in making coverage changes.
  • Responsible for timely, accurate invoicing and monthly expirations.
  • Meets all quality and timeliness standards in the Agency Management System while properly documenting all activity.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Marketing

  • Determine strategy with the Sales Team, including coverage determination, target pricing, and marketing determinations.
  • Submit applications with proper supporting documentation and follow up to ensure timely receipt of quotes and policies.
  • Negotiate premiums and commissions with underwriters and wholesalers in a professional manner.
  • Prepare proposals and provide other technical support in the sales process as needed.
  • Refer current and prospective clients to EPIC's Employee Benefits and Private Client Departments for relevant lines of business.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Personal & Organizational Development

  • Set priorities and manage workflow to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate processing of responsibilities.
  • Maintain cordial and effective relations with clients, co-workers, carriers, wholesalers, vendors, and other business contacts.
  • Maintain up-to-date proposals, workflow logs, manuals or other required documentation and records.
  • Communicate effectively, cooperate purposefully, and provide guidance to achieve business goals.
  • Stay informed on industry information, new product/program developments, coverages, and technology to improve knowledge and performance.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks and demands.
  • Ensure expert knowledge is maintained.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Key Competencies

  • Full knowledge of Property & Casualty lines of coverage and services.
  • Ability to analyze situations logically and draw solid conclusions.
  • Experience with Agency Management Systems, rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to manage, maintain, and write assigned clients and prospects.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Ability to multi-task and assign priority; works well with or without supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in a mid-size brokerage or carrier.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentations).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and demands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; teamwork, poise, tact, and diplomacy.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • California Fire and Casualty Broker License
  • Valid Driver License

The role's compensation is benchmarked; the national average salary range is provided for reference. Base pay is determined based on experience, skills, training, certifications, education, internal equity, and market data.
