Overview

The Accounting Department plays a critical role, responsible for facilitating prompt and accurate payments to vendors in order to keep shipments flowing into our stores. This entry‑level position focuses on Accounts Payable and requires a keen eye for numbers and a willingness to dive into data‑entry tasks.

Profile

This is a full‑time, entry‑level role located at Sports Basement's Corporate HQ in San Francisco's Presidio. Working hours are Monday‑Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

Duties

• Posting invoices in our ERP (SAP), verifying accurate pricing and quantities for all deliveries.
• Preparing weekly vendor payments, including checks and credit‑card authorizations.
• Processing and routing incoming mail from the PO box.
• Collaborating with buyers, receivers, vendors, and floor staff to resolve product shortages, cost discrepancies, or other issues.
• Providing support to credit‑card companies to dispute chargebacks.
• Reviewing and confirming accuracy of daily cash deposits.
• Performing vendor statement reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate payments.
• Assisting with month‑and year‑end financial close tasks.
• Supporting store operations during peak seasons or events (sales floor, marketing events, receiving, fulfillment).

Compensation

Initial pay ranges from $20 – $23 per hour, with benefits and potential for advancement.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel; SAP experience is a plus.
• Accounting experience and/or education preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and three‑way match concepts.
• Basic analytical skills and comfort working with numbers.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism.
• Comfortable performing repetitive tasks while maintaining high accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
