Senior Payroll Analyst

Description:

Legal Recruitment - Team Lead at Binding Minds Inc. working with AM100 law firms.

Base pay range: $45.00/hr - $55.00/hr

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Sr. Payroll Manager, Sr. Tax and Compliance Analyst, and Tax Analyst to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. and international payroll regulations, including IRS, FLSA, workers' compensation, state, local, and agency requirements, and equivalent non‑US country requirements.
  • Conduct variance analysis of the firm's payroll general ledger accounts and manage payroll‑related audits and communications.
  • Provide day‑to‑day and year‑end support to ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Ensure client satisfaction across all responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Payroll Operations:

  • Support payroll operations for all offices and entities, ensuring system integrity and timely, accurate pay distribution.
  • Assist in conducting Payroll Manager's audits for semi‑monthly, bi‑weekly, and off‑cycle payrolls, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist with all payroll tax activities, including employee tax set‑ups, reconcilers, filings, and year‑end report preparation.
  • Review complex payroll taxation arrangements for domestic and international remote work, business travelers, expats, secondments, and inpats, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Assist with review and approval of payroll journals, ensuring proper documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field and 8 years of global payroll experience (equivalent work experience may substitute for degree).
  • In‑depth knowledge of payroll and related U.S. federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Working knowledge in preparation and filing of payroll tax and other requisite forms.
  • Experience in international payroll administration (Europe – Germany, UK; Asia – Japan, Hong Kong, PRC, and Singapore preferred).
  • Working knowledge of integrated, cross‑functional business systems such as Ascentis Payroll, WorkForce Software, and Workday HCM.
  • APA Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or other relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of GDPR, California, and relevant data privacy requirements.
  • Highly ethical, analytical, team‑oriented, flexible, inquisitive & logical.
