About the job

The Merchandiser will be responsible for developing and driving the product strategy, assortment and financial performance goals. Working closely with the DDM , the Merchandiser will act as the representative of the customer in strategic decisions on the cross-functional team. The Merchandiser will partner with Design, Production, Brand Creative Services, and Visual Merchandising to ensure the strategic vision is executed all the way to the customer. They will also work closely with the store teams to enhance understanding of our customers and address their needs.

What you'll do

  • Create and develop seasonal merchandise line plans, working with Manager to hit financial targets and support the overall seasonal vision
  • Assort the product lines to guide color, pattern, silhouette, outfitting, class-mix, etc
  • Strategically develop and execute financial plans for department and classification in partnership with Planning
  • Work with Production and Design to drive achievement of AUC and IMU goals
  • Collaborate with Design, Production, Brand Creative Services, and Visual Merchandising to ensure the strategic vision is executed all the way to the customer
  • Own reporting on business on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, including hindsighting in preparation for upcoming seasons
  • Partner with the store teams to enhance understanding of our customers and address their needs
  • Maintain a high awareness of the customer, competitive landscape, and fashion trends through consistent store visits and online research
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency with intensive data management during peak times
  • Responsible for participating in Store communications as needed, providing product information, visual/outfitting direction
  • Merchant Team SME (subject matter expert) - Maintain expert-level knowledge and act as a primary resource on a specific process or tool
  • Develop presentation skills through weekly recapping, fast pass, and seasonal PPR meetings

What you'll bring
  • BA/BS degree required with 2 to 4 years of merchandising experience
  • Experience in the Specialty Store arena preferred, with proven ability to identify trends and successfully drive results
  • Children/Baby apparel experience preferred
  • Possess strong analytical skills as well as proficiency in working with numbers
  • Excellent speed in computer-based tasks and very detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in tools
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, coupled with strong organizational agility
  • PC skills required, including excellence with Microsoft applications
  • The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and ability to work with all levels within the organization

Actual starting pay for this role is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, relevant skills, education, and geographic location.
