Title:Home Delivery Driver
Department: Nutrition and Senior Centers
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Assistant HDM Manager
Job Summary: Deliver meals to congregate meal sites and home delivery program participants.
Essential Functions:
1. Picks up and delivers congregate and packed meals to senior centers, senior housings and event locations; unloads and transfers meals, milk, fruit and supplies to Center Coordinator/recipient.
2. Packs home-delivered meals at meal site and delivers meals to clients on foot or by car.
3. Communicates and regularly reports changes, meal status of clients and issues of operation to HDM / Transportation Coordinator.
4. Maintains vehicle in good condition and keeps records of all services, vehicle usage/mileage.
5. Communicates with clients on delivery requests/instructions and problems.
6. Observes conditions and needs of clients and provides appropriate assistance and referrals.
7. Operates vehicle in a safe manner and adheres to traffic laws.
8. Collects and records daily donations and number of meals served.
9. Attends driving safety and/or in-service training as assigned.
10. Cleans home delivery containers, thermal bags and tools.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. High school graduate with at least two years of work experience required. Experience working with the elderly and/or food service preferred.
2. Must have and maintain a valid CA driver license. Minimum of two years of driving experience with satisfactory driving record.
3. Must have interest to work with seniors and adults with disabilities and be willing and able to climb stairs to the homes of clients.
4. Good communication skills.
5. Ability to work in a team environment.
6. Bilingual in English and Chinese.
7. Must pass a strength test for physical fitness for the job; able to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
8. Must pass a drug test.
