Accounting Manager
The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides youth a sense of belonging and vital tools and experiences to succeed in life. Our services include academic support, college counseling, job placement, substance use and violence prevention education, crisis intervention, leadership development, technology and computer training. Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including benefits, deductions, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review and approve reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial transactions.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Analyze financial statements, variances, and key performance indicators to provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support the Director of Finance in developing annual budgets, program budgets, and grant budgets and budget revisions.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual audits, including gathering required documentation and addressing audit inquiries.
- Develop, implement, and enhance internal controls, identify and recommend process improvements.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, provide training, guidance, performance evaluations.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance to support financial planning, risk management, and organizational growth initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience in non‑profit accounting.
- 8+ years of progressive experience related to financial functions; 6+ years in managerial or supervisory role in non‑profit accounting/finance.
- Highly detail‑oriented and well‑organized; excellent written and oral communication skills with strong financial presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT a plus.
- Experience in financial process improvement, internal controls, and risk management strategies.
- Ability to collaborate with senior leadership, program managers, and external stakeholders on financial planning and decision‑making.
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local compliance requirements related to nonprofit accounting and grant management.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment while managing competing priorities.
