We are currently seeking an experienced Protection & Control (P&C) Engineer to join our team for a long-term onsite opportunity in San Ramon, CA. This role involves working on substation engineering design, power system protection, and control projects within the electric utility sector.

Location: San Ramon, CA 94583 (Onsite)
Employment Type: W2 Only (No C2C/Subcontracting)
Experience Required: 7-20 Years
Key Responsibilities:
• Design protection and control systems for transmission and distribution substations.
• Develop substation relay protection drawing packages, including schematics, wiring, one-line, and three-line diagrams.
• Conduct load calculations for panels, battery systems, and other substation components.
• Specify and select appropriate protective devices and equipment.
• Perform field support, pre-inspections, and project implementation assistance.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal design teams.
• Ensure adherence to client-specific protection standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and support drafting/design personnel.
Must-Have Skills:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (MicroStation is a plus)
• Strong experience in 2D/3D design
• Knowledge of ETAP, WinIGS
• Familiarity with IEEE 88/998 standards
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage systems
• Substation design for indoor/outdoor environments
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
• Professional Engineer (PE) License (Required)
• 4+ years of experience in the energy or utility industry
• Working knowledge of SCADA, RTU configuration, relay settings, and automation systems
• Experience with Bentley Substation, Autodesk Inventor
